fyi guys
‘the office type’ is a game in development you’ll be hearing about a lot. its transphobic garbage. it heavily implies you have to be pansexual to date trans people, it calls non-binary a ‘third gender’ and their current representation of NB people is what appears to be a 50/50 male/female mix.
the devs themselves refuse to listen to these legitimate concerns. i tried talking to them about it on twitter and instead of acknowledging that i, an actual IRL non-binary person, found their current actions to be transphobic, they just kept arguing with me like a bunch of children instead of saying something a simple as ‘we’re sorry to hear that, we’ll do better’
i highly recommend you stay away from that game or you at least hope that they listen to the actual concerns of trans people and make changes.
hey. update to this post. the dev team released an ‘apology’ (if you can even call it that)
the apology comes close to fixing some of their previous issues but the final part of it is almost insulting. instead of acknowledging that many trans/NB people have found what they have done uncomfortable/transphobic, they’re merely labelling any and all criticism of their game as ‘unwarranted insults, blatant ignorance’ and ‘outright hatred’.
i’d like to reiterate here that i don’t think that this game is beyond redemption. i finished off my first post with an encouragement of hoping that they will listen to our concerns and make changes. but i truly do not think any worthwhile changes are going to be made all the time they are perceiving genuine concerns and worries at ‘hatred’.
you can make whatever you like of this game. you can support it, you can not support it, you can love or you can hate it. it is completely up to you. but once again, i’ll say that i truly hope this dev team starts to realise that branding any criticism or genuine concern around your work as ‘hate’ will get them absolutely nowhere.
Honestly, the most frustrating thing about the whole rcdart discourse is that I remember their art from circa 2015 and it was really good. They still had a distinct and recognizable art style, but still balanced their stylization so that it wasn’t overly exaggerated or grossly offensive. And it’s just gone downhill so much.
Seriously, how on earth do you go from this

to this

and call it improvement!? I’m so confused.
