what the FUCK is ariana doing acting as if she’s an ally to the LGBT community and likewise allowing transmisogynic portrayals for comedy’s sake in her latest music video

i talk about the intent of a portrayal again and again regarding other portrayals of hated minorities in media. though there are trans women who have a 5 o’clock shadow, trans women who let their beards grow out fully, trans women who don’t fit the norms of cis womanhood (or cisness in general), who are no less women than those who do, having a cis male back up dancer by the name of scott nicholson play a role where he is to be seen as a man in a dress only has one goal: to laugh at the idea of trans women thinking they’re women.

i seriously question the decision to add this detail to a music video for one of the most listened songs right now. ariana is a big enough of an artist to say that she’s refusing to add transmisogynic content into her videos and having her voice heard, yet this part is still in it. by allowing it in, she’s giving the impression that she either agrees with the mockery, or thinks it’s not big enough of a thing to question: both, in the end, equally harmful.

cis LGB artists and persons, such as troye sivian, took part in this music video, and still trans women are being mocked, showing how little the further cis community (and indeed, even the rest of the trans community) cares about the wellbeing of trans women.

ariana is, by including this, further helping transmisogyny hold its roots steady not only in its portrayal of trans women (and caricatures of men in dresses supposed to represent trans women) in media, but normalising this mockery to her audience, who will use this normalisation to harm trans women. it’s disgusting. ariana’s actions here are disgusting.

lesbians not wanting to be disrespected is apparently terf behavior. y’all see a lesbian who may even trans herself saying things like how bi lesbians don’t exist or he/him lesbians are valid then all of a sudden it’s “suspiciously terfy”.

oh and u must’nt forget the whole “lesbians who don’t like being called queer are terfs”

It’s that time of year to say no to the Salvation Army.

Never forget they let a Trans woman die instead of helping her.

Never forget they have tossed entire families on the street for having an LGBT child.

Never forget they tell non Christian families that unless they convert they will not help them.

Never forget that the Salvation Army is bigoted and hateful, many of the bell ringers routinely heckle and harass LGBT couples.

This isnt a hot take but feminism which centers around periods/vaginas/boobs as Things Which Unite All Women is an untrustworthy brand of feminism

slogans like “no pussy no power” “viva la vulva” “not an ovary-action” etc as stand-ins for “i support women” are more damaging than yall think bc centering ur feminism around things which only cis women experience a) alienates trans women who dont experience them, b) is harmful to ppl who DO experience them but arent women, & c) furthers the mentality that gender = genitals/trans women dont really have a place fighting for womens rights. none of that is as progressive as yall think holding up a sign with a vagina on it is, same goes 4 writing that shit on pads. not every woman has a vagina & not everyone with a vagina is a woman, and feminism which marginalizes entire subsets of us for the sake of a catchy slogan isnt good feminism

Reducing women down to body parts, especially genitalia, is misogynistic.

It’s one thing to challenge stigmas around things like the vulva and menstruation, but when your feminism ties those things to women-hood, it is reductive at best, and inherently exclusionary.

my teeth were smashed out in a transphobic hate crime a while ago and i’m trying desperately to get them fixed in whatever way i can, and now that youcaring is gone i need to find a new route. i was able to get one piece completed but the rest of the damage is severe enough that we’re having to figure out temporary means to prevent my jaw from forcing itself out of the socket with chewing and biting motions, and even speaking has been painful this last week. i’m going to get a new fund thing set up as soon as i can go through the lot and see the fees and stuff, but in the meanwhile i’m hurting bad and might have to make another emergency visit very very soon. the one bright spot right now is that i have a job interview for a spot that i’m really qualified and experienced at tomorrow, so fingers crossed that i can possibly get insurance that will help me soon, but i still need to figure out what i can do right now. if you can contribute anything, i’m at paypal.me/awesomandias, or manicpixietransgrrrl@gmail.com, and every little bit adds up. thank you all so so fucking much for sharing this or donating, i appreciate it from the bottom of my lil black heart ❤

still haven’t got a new official fund for this set up and i’ve got a job now but it’s still just not enough for what i need done without some outside help, so i’m sending this around again. with my insurance they’re really only willing to cover extractions right now which will just not help at all with not having enough teeth to eat with, so i’m kinda stuck. any little bit adds up and helps me get closer to being a human again 🖤

butch-dyke:

It’s necessary to name transmisogyny as a distinct form of prejudice and oppression, as it has unique characteristics that generalizations of either of its component intersecting categories do not adequately explain when they’re considered in isolation, but with that in mind, it feels important to emphasize: hatred of trans women is also just plain misogyny.

Anti trans hysteria hurts cis women too, especially gay/gnc cis women

Protip: most people who are “bathroom vigilantes” are conservative straight folks who probably can’t tell a butch lesbian from a trans woman (or a trans man, for that matter). I do want radfems, especially the butch/GNC ones, to ask themselves if they’d be comfortable being forced into the men’s room by a straight soccer mom if they got to force trans women out of the women’s restroom.

The comments on the article are basically a bunch of people going “well she dressed like a man so it was her fault” like I thought we moved on from the ‘girls can’t wear pants’ mentality??

wow look it’s exactly what we knew was going to happen

toadprince:

If you only flirt with butch women, women of color, and trans women by making demands of them like, punch me in the face, step on me, crush my head, like the violence of those demands have been discussed better by other people, but I have yet to hear someone talk about the entitlement that goes into those demands. If you flirt with some women by being like “oh you’re so beautiful” or “wow you’re cute” but you flirt with some other women by telling them to do things, perhaps you need to examine why you see these women as people you have the right to make demands over.

Petition to refer to TERFs as FARTs, which stands for Feminist Appropiating Reactionary Tranaphobe

“Trans-Exclusionary-Radical-Feminist,” when you think about it, is a VERY kind term. To be called a TERF is for the person to admit that they still consider you a feminist.

But what kind of feminist excludes so many women from their movement? If you hate so many women for what they are, you really don’t deserve to be called any kind of feminist, radical or otherwise.

Anti-trans people: Stop calling us terfs it’s insulting

fattyatomicmutant, about to coin a new term: ‘K

Feminist Appropiating Reactionary Transphobe

is far far more accurate too.

I spend so much time trying to stay under the radar of t/erfs and when you some of you get into debates with them that are just you replying with a dumbe meme or something to their arguments it doesn’t look good…. you’re not really defending trans women. Mocking t/erfs can only do so much, don’t engage with terfs on serious posts of theirs unless you actually plan to defend trans women. And when a trans women actually steps up to say something serious NONE OF YOU back up her up and it’s just so disappointing.

you can rb this if you’re not a trans girl
