I’m making my own post, slightly edited of the original, because the OP was a trans-exclusive radical feminist.
David Bowie was not bisexual.
1972: He said he was gay. This was also right around the time that he raped a 14-year-old girl.
1977: In Playboy, Bowie said, “It’s true—I am a bisexual. But I can’t deny that I’ve used that fact very well. I suppose it’s the best thing that ever happened to me.”
1983: In Rolling Stone – “[Bowie’s] public declaration of bisexuality was [in his Bowie’s own words ‘the biggest mistake I ever made’ and ‘I was always a closet heterosexual’.”
“[H]e said his interest in homosexual and bisexual culture had been more a product of the times and the situation in which he found himself than his own feelings; as described by Buckley, he said he had been driven more by ‘a compulsion to flout moral codes than a real biological and psychological state of being.’” (source)
Bowie pretended to be gay, and then bisexual, to get attention and appear radical.
I know that we’re not supposed to accuse people of faking bisexuality, but it’s not as much as an accusation as it is presenting his own words… he literally admits to it.
Don’t call him bisexual, especially in the same breath as condemning his pedophilia. He’s not a bisexual icon. He shouldn’t have been, anyway, because of his pedophilia, but…
